Hi,
I am running LR CC on a New Mac Pro running Yosemite with my LR CC catalog running on a CalDigit Thunderbolt 2 RAID 1 T3 External drive,

I have 25,500 images. Is this such a big catalog that I need to worry?

If I want to seperate out images from this catalog and seperate them into a new catalog how would I do it?

Thanks

25500 isn't at all big. My own is around 75000, though I often work on a client's catalogue that is about 650000. The only thing that's slower is backing it up.

File Export as Catalog is how you would make a separate catalogue, and you'd then need to remove those pictures from the first catalogue unless you want the same images recorded in two catalogues. When you're controlling all your pictures in one place, what would make anyone want to break up that control? It's not quite the same, but do you record the stars in the Southern sky in one database and those in the Northern sky in another?
