Presumably because they're no longer supported by Google.

Yeah, that's true... But it's working fine (so far...) with both latest verion of Lr and Ps

And they may continue to do so for a while, but it's a safe bet that eventually a system software update will cause them to break. If it's a hobby, it may be a risk worth taking, but if it's a business you're running it's a different matter.

What plugins are you recommending to replace Nik?

For me it's RNI All Films, since they introduced custom camera profiles in version 4.
Much more natural output than default LR and much better film simulation than anything out there.
