Hello! I'm a very amateur photographer always eager to learn. Relatively new to Lightroom, but I've been in and around it for several months now. Haven't zeroed in on a "specialty" yet but I sure have been taking a lot of grandchildren photos - from portraits to sports. And, since it's reaching about -20 F tonight, I'm just hunkered in where it's warm and the camera, sad to say, is in it's bag. So, hello again, from north central Iowa and I'm looking forward to learning a lot from you all.

Welcome to the forum. Winter is a good time to hone your LR skills as well as investigate Desktop photography.

Well my dad is a Bob also, so I do not believe in "just Bob". :D
Welcome to the Lr forums, I am also a newbie and hobbyist. You will find lots of grey hairs here who really picked up photography in retirement and supper generous about helping the next crop of photographers.

    Welcome Bob!

I'll trade you some of your cold for the tropical heat and humidity of Queensland!
Also, I really must ask Cletus exactly what "Desktop photography" is!! o_O

Ah... right, so something akin to a photographic version of a still-life then?

Not necessarily so still. I've photographed frogs and geckos. As well as candle flames/smoke, oil on water, ink in a water column. and numerous focus stacks. You are limited only by your imagination.
