    Is Lightroom Classic end-of-life?

@tom manley, You can still buy the standalone version of LR6. I did it just last week as insurance (since I've been a subscriber since LR5) to make sure I am not forced into a solution I do not want to be part of. Download and install Lightroom 6 (Single App license) If you have a current...

    Is Lightroom Classic end-of-life?

@PhilBurton, I have to agree with the NY Times opinion piece... it somewhat validates my reluctance to hand over control to a self-driving car (and not just because I may be a bit of a control freak myself)... Back in 1993-1994 I developed some industrial pattern recognition techniques that...

    Is Lightroom Classic end-of-life?

I think we are some way away from being able to trust auto-keywording — especially if I’m not able to modify or guide the keywords being assigned. As an example, I just look at the quality of the Face-tagging.... with some photos it’s pretty good, but others... Let’s just say I’ve been heard...

@Wernfried, Thanks mate, these are extremely helpful - thank you very much! Christelle

Import Rename by UTC on Import

@Wernfried, Thanks for these, I was hoping to avoid having to do this as a multi-step exercise... but renaming is never going to get easier in Lightroom. On the bright side, if I’m going to be doing this with exiftool, I can just as well also use the sub-seconds (I do a lot of burst...

A nice surprise with the photo plan

Sadly, I discovered that I have reached that age, where I can see better on the phone if I take my multifocal glasses off ;). I just checked the App store and the Watch Store, and don't see any Adobe applications for the Apple Watch (yet). I am also staying away from the Cloud, other than...

Import Rename by UTC on Import

@Wernfried, I use(d) several cameras - The Nikon D1X, D200, D80 and D700, did not support the time-zone information. As I'm going through the files, I am adding time-zone data with exiftool. The Panasonic Lumix FT3 did not support the time zone information, but if it recorded GPS position, it...

Import Rename by UTC on Import

This is not going to work for me... I should have my new iPhone X before Christmas  I started taking photos with the iPhone to log the GPS position for when I forgot the exteral GPSlogger doo-dad or when I forgot to charge it... Now you can get pretty decent snaps, and it’s a bit less...

Import Rename by UTC on Import

@Wernfried, as I explained in my original post, using the local time to sort (which is what Lightroom does if I do not give it another option), means the files are out of order if you happen to “travel back in time” as you cross timezones. I usually shoot with more than one camera at a time, so...

Import Rename by UTC on Import

@tspear, I am not too worried about having to do the renaming as a script for the historical files (I managed to lose my fear of the command line / scripting) and setting UTC on the Nikon is an easy and solution. But how do you propose handling iPhone photos (and the new GoPro that set its...

Import Rename by UTC on Import

Operating System: Windows 10 Exact Lightroom Version (Help menu > System Info): LR 6.13 or Classic CC 7.0.1 My import file renaming is based on YYYYMMDD_HHmmss_Index number. Is there an easy way to get Lightroom to use the UTC time for file renaming on import? When flying between Australia and...

Lightroom Classic / CC Functionality Timeline

I installed LR6 from the downloaded installation file (at the moment 6.13 is the only version of Lightroom that I have installed), but it activated as LR2015.13 since I have a current subscription, rather than use the serial number. The Windows "uninstall" option shows the Adobe Lightroom...

A nice surprise with the photo plan

Following this link that John posted, I just noticed "Adobe Creative Cloud for Apple Watch" under content... Has anybody used this? Does this mean Lightroom CC allows photo editing on the watch... ? :cool2: I am not sure how practical that would be... Christelle

LR cc and LR6 at same time on same PC??

@Gronlund I , I am running LR6 and LR Classic CC on the same PC. As @Jim Wilde mentioned, it is not possible to activate LR6 with the serial number while your subscription is active (I went to great lengths to try, except for the workaround he mentioned...). I am still working on the most...

    LR6 still available?

Yes, I bought a standalone version of LR6 yesterday. I switched to the subscription during LR5. Since I am restarting with a clean and properly organized catalogue (and most of my previous edits are better forgotten!), I decided to base that on a perpetual LR6 license. I will do most of the...

    Is Lightroom Classic end-of-life?

At least I know this one... It's when you install buggy old programs or dodgy downloaded trials on your husband's PC (because it's virtually yours as well) rather than your own so that your laptop isn't fried if something goes wrong... :sneaky:  I'm definitely not an IT type... A virtual...

    Is Lightroom Classic end-of-life?

I just trawled through one of my backup drives, looking for a file I am certain must be there - I would not have deleted it under any circumstances... I think... I bought my first DSLR (a Nikon D200) in April 2006. Before that I used my Pentax SLR and a Nikon Coolpix. In May 2006 I bought a...

Library module Conversion of JPG/TIFF to DNG

That is what I do now, so the only difference would be to not import the SD card as well. And I’ll have to change the settings so that MOV files are saved to the CF card instead of the SD card. I’ve probably taken 10 videos with it since I bought the camera...

Library module Conversion of JPG/TIFF to DNG

Thanks guys, I’ve been convinced about the NEF+JPG. Or at least as far as Lightroom is concerned. When we travel, shooting NEF with a small JPG on the D800E allows me to use the SD card reader for the iPad and have a good-enough file for Facebook without having to deal with the massive NEFs...
