I have over 9,000 photos that I had stored on CDs and recently copied to my workstation. There's a lot of good work here and far more memories to preserve. I want to import all of them into LR in a sane and orderly manner. I could simply import the lot as a whole and then sort through them, and...
I'm also thinking of replacing my GTX1660 with an RTX 3060 12GB. In your case, was there much of an increase in graphics card fan noise in moving to the RTX?
I shot a fresh series of photos, again using a tripod and static subject. This time (and as expected), LR gave me no problems with either the smart previews or holding the magnification point constant between photos. I think this was a 'one off' problem, and believe no error exists regarding the...
I updated to the latest version yesterday, and just shot a series of photos that I imported into the LR Catalog. Two errors occurred. First, while the photos imported correctly, their smart previews stalled before completing the entire series that I imported, forcing a relaunch of LR. Once...
Solved the silly problem by using the contact sheet layout and adjusting the number of cells. This allows each images metadata to be printed beneath the photo.
Thanks. I have found a problem in what I want to do, and that is both the picture package and custom package layouts do not allow photo information to be printed (Page tab in print module). Is there a way around this problem and still make a contact sheet of one image processed 6 different ways...
Hi all,
I just wanted to run this past you all for thoughts and suggestions. I want to print a contact sheet with six copies of the same image, each with distinct develop module settings. My thought is to make six virtual copies of the original image, develop each copy separately...

Just an FYI for those, like me, who use the PS color themes panel. If you know of another PS panel that does the same thing, would you kindly post?
Best,
Bob
Hey Grits: I don't follow you. Here's my rename scheme: BB_{Date (YYMMDD)>>}_{Sequence # (001)>>}. I had to copy that from LR by eye, as copy n paste didn't work. Anyway, I don't see a descriptor such as "File Number" anywhere: Sequence, Image, and Total are what is shown in the pulldown menu...
Valid points, Califdan. In my case, I was shooting bracketed photos and renaming made it a bit easier to find groups of three images. Also, and definitely trivial, many years ago when I first started using LR, I watched a video from a 'well-known' authority on LR who suggested renaming during...
Not renaming upon import makes sense, especially given the problem I've encountered. Also, I have to agree with those who have argued that automatic renaming is not necessary; selective renaming may be important only in certain cases where you're exporting out.
Thanks all for your input. I've...
Jim: You nailed it, and accurately portrayed what I've experienced with the file renaming problem. Yes, I was referencing the sequence number = capture time. Am I current in saying that the work around is to rename after import, using the rename function in the library??
I routinely import with a renaming that includes my initials, the date, and a file number. I've used this for years with an earlier version of LR, however, this scheme is giving me troubles now that I've upgraded to LR classic (latest update). The basic problem: the renaming is out of order...
I recently upgraded to LRClassic after years working with V5.7. On my old setup, I had LR configured such that when I opened a photo in the Develop module Lens Corrections would be immediately applied. Chalk this up to my old age, but I don't remember how to configure LR to do this each time...
Thanks to Victoria and Cletus, my LR Classic is now successfully installed and a near mirror image of my old 5.7 version of LR. Lots to learn in the new version (coming from 5.7, that is.)
So, I built a new Win10 computer over the weekend, and I have installed, but not started Lightroom CC. I read the 'how to' by Victoria (How do I move Lightroom to a new computer? | The Lightroom Queen), and have copied the old LR 5.7 files so that I may paste them into the appropriate folders in...
I've put all the components together. Today will be the first power-on tests, followed by installation of updates and drivers, and the operating system. If all goes smoothly, I anticipate attempting at an install of LR and PS on my new computer early next week. Fingers crossed.
I settled for an ASUS ProArt 32" 4K. Pricey, but I think it'll satisfy my needs, and I wanted to go with one single monitor with my new computer build.
