Denoise speed is the opposite of what I expected

It's not a Powerpoint thing, it's a show-and-tell thing. And I'm not an AI expert, so I'm just trying to do an introduction for some of the newer folks. In any case... I THINK I stumbled on a fix. The 4060 has both "game" drivers and "studio" drivers. When I installed it I looked at the...

Denoise speed is the opposite of what I expected

Unfortunately, the presentation is being held in a location that's in-person only, and which has no equipment for doing video or zoom or much of anything else. It's not going to be an in-depth, fer-real thing. It's just a very shallow look at the tools so the attendees know what they can and...

Denoise speed is the opposite of what I expected

This came up because I need to do a presentation on some of the new tools in a week, and wanted to make sure the laptop was up to the challenge of doing Denoise and Gen Fill and Gen Expand and so on. I found a couple old discussions in another forums where the answer to all Denoise speed...

Best online resource for answering questions about LRC to LR migration?

Thanks Victoria, I'll take a look. I must admit to being surprised at the enthusiasm for moving. And in the conspiracy theory part of my brain I had the thought that Adobe likely WANTS people to move to Lightroom, exceed their limited Cloud storage, and have to purchase more. This would...

Best online resource for answering questions about LRC to LR migration?

I went back over today 'cause there's a new video with more workflow. By the time it ended my list had grown to over 2 things that are a "problem" for me. Some are just DIFFERENT, some are annoyances, and some may be significant... I WANT to like it. I'm FINE with getting rid of catalogs as...

Best online resource for answering questions about LRC to LR migration?

I've been a fan of Matt's for quite a while, and have found his tutorials and sessions at events like the Lightroom Summit useful. I went through the FAQ a little while ago and it makes Lightroom much less attractive. I can't speak to his relationship with Adobe, but he seems sincere in his...

Best online resource for answering questions about LRC to LR migration?

I've found a few topics in different places, but so far, nothing that answers the bunch of questions I found when I looked at LR7 yesterday... I watched Matt Kloskowski's video about him moving from LRC to LR, so I installed LR7 and opened it up... And within a minute or 2 I had a bunch of...

My Recent GPU Experience (Gigabyte Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti 12GB)

Thanks. That matches what I'm seeing. Topaz tools use the GPU a lot, but I don't see much use when building a few hundred (or thousand) 1:1 previews, which I inferred from the Lightroom requirements - "8GB to enable GPU supported preview generation" - that Lightroom would do. GPU with DirectX...

My Recent GPU Experience (Gigabyte Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti 12GB)

I read through this topic not long ago, and since it's still getting replies, I figure I'll ask here... Windows 11 Pro, i9-12900 cpu, 64gb memory, Nvidia 4060 gpu, everything in the box is on fast M.2 drives, and images are on an 8TB Samsung SSD. LRC is 13.0.2 I DIDN’T do any empirical testing...

Reinstalled Epson 3880 driver, Lightroom lost all profiles

Ah! I don't have any blue squares on the Taskbar - they may have been there originally, but I likely got rid of them as clutter. Anyhow, I figured out you wanted me to go into Settings, so I went to bluetooth & devices, and it looks just like the control panel - there's only 1 3880, so I don't...

Reinstalled Epson 3880 driver, Lightroom lost all profiles

I just checked - JUST IN CASE - and yes, I selected printer not jpg... Again, exactly the kind of thing I'd forget! I looked at Devices and Printers in the Control Panel, and there's only 1 3880 shown. Is there a different place to look at Windows parameters, printers?

Reinstalled Epson 3880 driver, Lightroom lost all profiles

I agree... It seems to me that I should be able to select a profile, but there aren't any. I don't think it matters what the paper is. I should be able to pick ANY available printer profile and use it on any paper - wouldn't necessarily WORK WELL, but I don't think the printer OR the profile...

Reinstalled Epson 3880 driver, Lightroom lost all profiles

Can't hurt to try... I took an ordinary image, cropped it to 11x14, and went into Print to print an 11x14 on 11x17 Lustre paper. Here's the information from Page Setup - if I'm missing something I'll feel dumb, but it won't be the first time: Once I set those, I moved over to the...

Reinstalled Epson 3880 driver, Lightroom lost all profiles

Don't know if it'll help or not, but, I created a NEW catalog. In a new location. Touched NOTHING... Didn't change a single preference. Imported an image, went to Print, down to Profiles, clicked the arrows, went to "Other", INSTANT lockup. Event 1002, Application Hang The program...

Reinstalled Epson 3880 driver, Lightroom lost all profiles

Windows 11 Pro, Lightroom 12.3 I have been using a 3880 for a very long time. It's been fine. After the "upgrade" to Windows 11, I only had ONE ICC profile - fortunately it was the one I generally use, so I didn't care. BUT, because of some fiddling with the printer, I reinstalled the 3880...

Where does Lightroom store the defaults assigned to the Metadata panel?

Hi John... In Lightroom 11, I can take the Default Metadata screen in the Library and set up the fields I want to see. I have multiple catalogs because I DON'T want my fer-real production images getting anywhere the catalog(s) I use for teaching Lightroom and Photoshop. Because of this, I keep...

Where does Lightroom store the defaults assigned to the Metadata panel?

Windows PS, Windows 11 Pro, Lightroom Classic (whatever is current this week) I haven't found an answer to this anywhere, and I figure I'm more likely to get an accurate answer here than over in the "regular" Lightroom forum...

Images being changed from .dng to .dng+jpeg

I've read that topic. The problem is they are NOT "missing". Lightroom SAYS they're missing if you do a Synchronize. In reality, they're in the folder where they belong, but Lightroom has ATTACHED them to the raw file "next" to them. You'd have to read the whole thread of overly long...

Images being changed from .dng to .dng+jpeg

This is getting too convoluted… A couple examples: On a disk (A) and IN LIGHTROOM, I have an image. It was a NEF file and got imported into Lightroom as a .dng. I processed it in Lightroom and modified the settings. Then I exported the modified .dng image as a jpg. The jpg has been cropped...

Images being changed from .dng to .dng+jpeg

Interesting blog… I wasn’t aware this was a problem for Lightroom. I’m not sure what I’m seeing fits your scenarios, but it may… It appears that your method deletes the “redundant” jpegs, which these aren’t. They’re completely different files – different dimensions, different filesize...

Images being changed from .dng to .dng+jpeg

I started this in the Lightroom Classic forum, but it's just sitting there. I don't know if this is a bug, but it's strange. Windows PC, Windows 11 Pro, Lightroom Classic 11.2 Yesterday I consolidated an older pair of folders in the catalog. I selected all the images in folder B and moved them...

    Problems with handling duplicates

That would work, or using a unique camera ID in the filenames. Or even doing a rename during the import, though that would require more consistency than the other methods. I was amazed it actually happened. I always knew it COULD, but I've never seen it in someone's system 'til now.

    Traveling with Lightroom Classic

This probably won't work for everyone, but I store my images on a 4TB 2.5" SSD. On the desktop, it lives in a removable carrier, so it's an internal drive. When I travel, pull it out of the desktop, put it in a USB-powered carrier, and everything is with me. I can either put the catalog on...

    Problems with handling duplicates

Everything that was in the whole mess got backed up before anything was started, though I can’t imagine how they’d ever FIND anything lost in the chaotic mess. Through no great skill on my part – though I’m doing this through Zoom to a person with essentially NO Internet bandwidth (I can’t even...

    Problems with handling duplicates

Do you think that's a good thing or a bad thing? I'd a whole lot rather NOT be trying to describe some of these disasters in here, and I also do a lot of research before asking, so a high percentage of the question I ask myself get answered before bothering anybody… Most of the questions are...
