Library module Can I dock the collections folders

You can set your collection as the Target Collection (right-click on the collection). Then you can use B to add a photo to that collection.

    LIGHTROOM BACKUP

Still, it wouldn't hurt to download a copy from Download Photoshop Lightroom and keep it somewhere safe...

    Color Label Issue

Did you recently change the descriptions of the labels? LR uses the label text rather than the colour, so if you changed the label from "Red" to "To Do", for instance, the existing photos will have label "Red" but LR is looking for label "To Do".

Map Module to be Discontinued in Lightroom 6

Found the issue... I'm running LR on Windows in a VM, and VirtualBox interferes with my Alt keys :-|. But using the on-screen keyboard, I found that left-Alt gives you a Google Maps link, right-Alt a Yahoo Maps link.

Map Module to be Discontinued in Lightroom 6

@johnbeardy, on which OS is that? From Jeffrey Friedl's blog (Accessing Yahoo! Maps from Adobe Lightroom), it appears in early versions of LR the GPS arrow on its own launched a Google Maps link, whereas with Alt/Opt it would launch a Yahoo Maps link. Jeffrey also has a plugin (of course :) -...

Map Module to be Discontinued in Lightroom 6

Yahoo Maps has moved to Yahoo Maps, Driving Directions and Traffic, and it appears it no longer supports direct links (at least not in the format LR creates).

Map Module to be Discontinued in Lightroom 6

P.S. Do you think Adobe know this ;-) ? Workaround To see the location of an image on a map, copy the coordinates from the GPS field in the Metadata panel located at the right in the Map module. Then, search for these coordinates on the Internet.

Ah, I didn't know that trick :-). Unfortunately, on my system that only opens a 'blank' Yahoo search page...

Map Module to be Discontinued in Lightroom 6

That s...s :-( ! I upgraded from LR5 to LR6 just for the map support... If they could just release a final version without a map module, and go back to the old way of working where clicking on the coordinates would open the link in your browser, I would be happy - but I guess that's not going to...

Library module Changing previously assigned colour labels

The way I remember it, is that LR only looks at the label text - the colour is there only for your benefit. So if you change the text of a label, images which have the previous text are no longer associated with that label (and hence are no longer associated with that specific colour).

Library module Removing all keywords beneath a parent tag from multiple images - is there any way??

Yes, that would be useful, but I don't think there's any way to do this within LR itself (at least not in LR6). But I'm open to someone else coming along and telling me I'm wrong :-).

Library module Removing all keywords beneath a parent tag from multiple images - is there any way??

The only way I can think of is to use a SQLite editor (e.g. DB Browser for SQLite), but that would involve some fairly complicated logic. If you want to try that, make sure to take a backup (or two...) of your catalog first!

    CrashPlan

I did look at several other options, but in the end came to the same conclusion you have. It's not terribly expensive, it works well, and of course it has my complete version history (which I would be uncomfortable throwing away when starting with something new).

    JPG to DNG

Fortunately, I've never had to resort to my backups yet. Another big advantage of LR's non-destructive approach :-).

    JPG to DNG

True, but I would rather have an early warning, so I can recover the last good version from my backups before they rotate...

    JPG to DNG

The one advantage of converting to DNG is that the DNG format contains a checksum validation feature, so you can verify that the files aren't becoming corrupted somehow.

    Customise Lightroom metadata fields

Have a look at Jeffrey Friedl's Lightroom Configuration Manager and/or his Metadata-Viewer Preset Builder plugin. See Jeffrey's Lightroom Configuration Manager for more info.

    keyword hierarchy question

There is no need to create keywords for the location, Lightroom already has metadata fields for that. Under Metadata in the right-hand panel, make sure to select "IPTC" or "EXIF and IPTC". If your camera has a GPS, those fields will automatically be populated. If not, you can either enter them...

    Exporting help pls??

In the export dialog, you have the option to name the exported photos (File Naming > Rename To). If the photos are in the correct order in LR, you can use a sequence number in the new name (the "Custom Name - Sequence" option). If you want them in the order in which they were originally shot...

    Exporting help pls??

Hi Rupert, welcome to the forums! The order you see in Windows is determined by Windows itself, not by LR. Normally, files in Windows are shown in alphabetical / numeric order, so if you want to see them chronologically in Windows, it's probably easiest to use either sequence numbers or the...
