Hello all,
I have a large number of PNG files I'd like to catalog. I'm running LR3.3 with Mac OS. I came across John R. Ellis's Any File plugin and have it installed.
When I try to import a PNG with the "use thumbnails from the Finder" option checked, it pops the thumbnail up & hangs. In...
Great discussion! I too find that there is enough "headroom" for growth in LR. I appreciate that there are regular updates with new features, without the software becoming bloated and overwhelming like PS can be. I find that LR and this forum challenge and encourage me to improve my photography...
Hi redryder, welcome to the forums! Hope I can help you. Look at the right side of your Library module, at the "Keyword List" section. Find your "Spaniels" keyword. Right click it and choose "Edit Keyword Tag". You should see three Keyword Tag Options. Make sure that there is a check beside...
Nik, I picked up that printer recently too, as we were looking for an inexpensive wireless printer. I had no problems getting that set up for both my Mac and my husdand's PC. But I never thought of considering it as a photo printer due to the price! Huh!
This was a magazine created by NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals). There was only one issue (if I recall correctly) and then they decided to just add a section devoted specifically to Lightroom in their other publication, Photoshop User magazine. Sorry, but here is the link...
Cocco, if you decide to go with LR3, there is already a resource out that will be of immense help to you. See Victoria Brampton's post above for the link to her Lightroom 3 Beta book. It's in rough cut form now & will be updated when the final version of LR3 comes out. Don't miss the discount...
Re: Beta 2 Video Bug?
This topic is now solved. I repaired permissions one more time, went again to the Finder and re-designated QuickTime as the default program to open AVI and MOV files, restarted Lightroom, and Voila! Quicker with QuickTime!
Re: Beta 2 Video Bug?
Progress! Now AVI files do open in QuickTime; I believe repairing permissions did the trick. MOV files do still open with iTunes. And the search goes on...
Re: Beta 2 Video Bug?
You're right, there are different types. The file types from my cameras are AVI and MOV. In the Finder, I had designated QuickTime as the default program to open both of those types but iTunes still opens with Lightroom-managed videos and nothing else. That's why I'm...
Loving the new Beta 2 release! The Luminance noise adjustment is awesome, and I'm enjoying the new Curves, among other things. I imported my videos and wonder if anyone else is having this issue. I have QuickTime designated as my default video player for all types, and it works correctly...
Nik, I'm a lefty too, but I use a right-handed wireless mouse. That's handy, 'cause it leaves my left hand free for using the tablet stylus.
Anyone found a good bluetooth mouse? I've been reading about the new Apple mouse having some drag issues. I'd have no patience with that, working in...
I have a couple of questions for you all. As I continue to add current photos to my LR database, I'm also scanning in old family photos in TIFF format. I'm using a YYYY/YYYYMMDD_Desc naming convention for the new photo folders but haven't been renaming the photos. Do you all rename your photos...
Nik,
You're right, checking that preference eliminated the problem. I had recently changed it and so hadn't had the issue before. In the past I had scanned old family history images as TIFFs and then produced derivative files & stored them in the same folder. Storing those jpgs in their own...
Hello all, hope spring (or fall) is arriving in your neck of the woods! A search of the forums brought up some similar issues but not quite the same problem as I'm having. When I synchronize a folder or group of folders, I have a number of photos "missing." However, they don't have the question...
I also had a physical install CD for LR1, and a download of LR2. I have also needed to reinstall LR2, although not due to a hard drive crash. Since I registered my copy of LR1, when I logged on to my Adobe account, the serial number was automatically filled in for me. Re-downloading the install...
Reid, thanks for posting this assessment, as well as your post about the camera club training. I found them to be a good challenge to see how I was doing & set the bar a little higher!
Hi & welcome to the forums! I see you're using the Windows version. Hopefully it's not different than the Mac method. In Grid mode, highlight the photos that you want to change the month on. In the menu bar, you'll see the Metadata menu. There is an option there called, "Edit Capture time". In...
You probably know about all these sites, but here are some links I've saved. You're right, there are very few adjustment presets around. I like Matt Kloskowski's "Lightroom Killer Tips". I noticed he had a couple of Adjustment Brushes in his free presets. His site is here...
Thanks for that, Denis, since I only have one catalog and one computer I think I'll leave my presets in the default location. A search of the forums makes me think that storing with the catalog is problematic. You have a good point about the print presets/templates; I'll probably trash those, at...
Best practices for new Lightroom (re)installation?
After reinstalling Lightroom, starting a new catalog and importing in chunks from the catalog with the 4x6 printing issue, all seems to be well & images print correctly. I pitched the preview file as it's easy for those to be rebuilt & didn't...
