When I do a photoshoot on the road, I import a certain number of RAW images to my iPad as a sanity check that things are going well (using those marvelously tiny iOS thumbnails as a guide to the keepers).
LR Mobile is mostly getting the job done, with the exception of keywords.

The problem I'm wrestling with is when I get home, I import ALL of the original RAW files to my master LR catalog. This creates duplicates of the LR Mobile imports, and it is the Mobile files that are already edited.

I do a cumbersome matching and syncing process to get the edits saved into the complete collection, and then I really should delete the dupes.

I'm surprised not to find any mention of this online, and wonder if someone has a slick approach to deal with
A the duplicate files
B the Mobile versions that have tagging and edits, vs the card imports that don't

I am facing the same challenge. Would love to hear suggestions on this as well. Thank you in advance guys.

What is supposed to happen depends a little on what order you do things.

1. If, after importing the raw files into LRmobile, you then allow those files to sync back to LR Desktop before you attempt to import all the files directly into LRD from the card, LRD should not allow those files already synced to be selected for import, provided "Don't Import Suspected Duplicates" is checked in the import dialog.

2. If, OTOH, you import all the files into LRD before the sync of the few imported into LRmobile takes place, then obviously all the files will be imported. However, when you then start syncing with LRmobile, LRD will detect that those files already exist and should therefore simply create virtual copies of the duplicated files (which should include any edits that you've already made in LRmobile).

I've tested this in the past, and it works as I described. However, there may be other wrinkles that I didn't test so if the above isn't happening for you please provide details.

Regarding keywords, I don't understand....LRmobile does not support keywording.

Jim's point 1 is very important here. If point 2 applies, my Syncomatic plugin could handle much of this. Data entered in LrMobile - ratings and flags, adjustments, title and caption - can be synced based on the file names.
