Here's a snip of my desktop showing 2 G: drives. I have 1 connected, why do 2 show up?

why do 2 EHD's show up in explorer when only 1 is connected

Double Click on "This PC" and post a screen grab of the right hand panel.

Yes... that is a feature of Windows ....
Windows 10 is better than prev versions, but it is still not ideal. You can adjust some elements of Windows Nav panel behaviour by going into View / Navigate Panel.
For efficient use of Windows it is worth spending some time adjusting these settings, but more importantly .... adding your frequently folders to the "Quick Access" section of the Nav panel.
