Hi is the new 5D mark 3 compatible with the lightroom 2.7 or CS5 to convert raw to jpg files? and then can you shoot directly on lightroom 2.7 with the Mark 2, please advise

Eorders, welcome to the forum. You will need to upgrade to LR4.1 to read the proprietary RAW file format of the 5DMkIII. However, Adobe does offer for free an app called DNG Converter that will let you convert the 5DMkIII CR2s to DNGs which can then be imported into LR2.7
