Lightroom Hangs...

Hi All:
Using LR4.0 on Lenovo T520 (64 bit) running Win 7. LR is hanging up on me when I import from my camera stick inserted into my computer. Also, it is running VERY slowly in general. Anyone have any comments/fixes? I have deleted my preference file but this does not solve the loading problem.

UPDATE: Copied the CR2 files to my desktop and could import them from the desktop as long as I "copied" them. When I tried to "convert to DNG" LR would hang. Seems to be a Camera Raw issue?

UPDATE to the UPDATE: Problem solved. Seems LR could not write a specific file on the disk. Changed storage file and everything works fine!
