Lightroom won't import my photos from card

Appreciate any insight. This has never happened to me.

Just went to upload photos from two different new SDHC memory cards (two different brands) that definitely have photos on them. The photos are visible on my Nikon D7000 LCD screen. Lightroom 3.4.1 64bit said that there were "no photos found" on both cards. Help if you can. Surely my client will appreciate.

    Phoenix, Welcome to the forum.
There are several things to consider.
    • Does your version of LR/ACR support your D7000? I'm not sure when support for the D7000 was introduced. Your LR version states v3.4.1. Updating to LRv3.5 will give you support for D7000.
    • Is your card reader compatible with SDHC cards (older SD only card readers do not work reliably with SDHC cards)
    • Can you copy the image files to the HD using the OS to make the copy and then can you import fronm the local HD location?

    Thank you Cletus!

I believe you've given me a work around until I can figure out what's off.

    * Yes, my LR/ACR support D7000 and have done so since Version 3.3/CS5.
    * My card reader has previously supported SDHC Class 10 cards.
    * I will upload images to HD via OS.

    Much appreciated!

    P.S. Like your Proust quote.

LR has been very diligent at pointing out technical issues that other software might over look. While the work around my get you past this point, it doe not do anything to solve your problem.
How do you attach a SDHC card to your computer?
    • Via camera and cable? Look for a weak camera battery or bad USB Cable. If you have a different cable, try using that instead (Remember the cable shipped with your camera was probably supplied by the lowest bidder)
    • External card reader? Card reader could be failing; slot contacts could be dirty; Low voltage form a non powered USB hub; Bad USB cable. Attach the card reader directly to the computer, use a different USB cable etc.
    • Internal Card reader? Card reader could be failing; slot contacts could be dirty; Use a different (external) card reader

Cletus, you are so right. the work-around doesn't solve the problem. I will use one of your alternative methods for attaching the SDHD card to computer...probably computer tower's card reader. For ever since I can remember, I attach SDHC cards via an external card reader. It has never failed before and things change. I intend to purchase a new one tonight.

    Thank you for the follow-up.

Dear Cletus! Problem resolved thanks to your suggestions. I replaced the card reader. That did it. Wanted you to know that your replying right away made a difference in keeping me calm and focused on the solution. Thanks again.
