i needed to import a bunch of photos from a new catalogue and when i did so, any watermark presets i had have be taken away. so when i export a photo, my previous watermarks are no longer an option :( however, i still have the actual watermarks saved in a folder (lightroom settings /...

    camera raw plug-in

apparently, camera raw 7.0 (which is what i have on PS CS6) has the nikon d7000 (my camera) so is there really a need for me to update? seems to be a major pain as i DL'd the CR8 and ran everything, but it didn't install correctly or not at all (not sure).

    camera raw plug-in

am just trying out LR5 (which is zooming along for the most part) and when i try and edit a photo (NEF) in PS6, i'm getting a window saying 'the version blah blah requires PS camera raw plug-in 8.1 blah blah'. is this an update i need to do on the LR side or on the PS side? and how can i do...

    LR 5 performance

so lightroom 5 is out BUT the major question is, how is the performance? i'm still on 4.3 (64-bit) and the only hiccup i have noticed is when switching from library to develop, takes 10 seconds sometimes. so how is the overall performance of LR 5 on your setup?

    moving library ..... SAFELY!

so i moved the catalogue and made the 'lightroom settings' folder in my catalogue folder which is good and explained in the above blog link. BUT i noticed that my watermarks did not follow. i have found my watermarks in the appdata/roaming/adobe/lightroom folder but do not know where to put it...

    moving library ..... SAFELY!

just bought a new SSD and would like to move SOME of my photo folders to this SSD. my concern is keeping the 'library' organized so that all meta data, exif info, keywords etc follow the move. so, i will move some folders i am working on now to the much much faster SSD, work on them and get...

    4.2 - performance opinions please

i had upgraded to 4.0 some time ago but found the performance to be terrible so i went back to the latest 3.x version. now that 4.2 is out, i'm curious... is the performance better and does it fully take advantage of all that extra RAM i have? is 4.2 worth the upgrade?

color fade leaves 'glow' on edges, how to remove?

i have recently discovered the adjustment brush and color fades (some is black and white while a area of focus is in color). so what i do is this, pick adjustment brush turn down the saturation then 'paint' all the areas i want to be black and white i also do a bit of overlap with the area i...

3.6 to 4.? Is there much more to be had? Worth upgrading?

LR 4 did not deliver in terms of performance on my 64 bit system but some others have been 'lucky'.

3.6 to 4.? Is there much more to be had? Worth upgrading?

after my personal experience i'm going to NOT recommend an upgrade to anyone, for the moment at least. i've found the performance MUCH slower in 4.0 (even tried 4.1 RC2) when compared to 3.6. maybe it will be better with 4.2 but until then, i'm sticking with 3.6.

is 4.0 slow or is it just me?

so i just did a reinstall of LR 3.6 and things so far are very positive. i'm using RAW photos from a nikon d7000. loading photos in the library module takes 3 seconds MAX. switching to develope takes 2 seconds. going back to photos i've already looked at, is nearly instant, no more waiting. if...

is 4.0 slow or is it just me?

i'm going to try something and install lightroom 3 again and see how it performs. what was the last version of lightroom 3? was it 3.5?

is 4.0 slow or is it just me?

well i just installed LR 4.1 RC2 and my performance did not really improve at all. furthermore, i just did a fresh install of win7 64bit on a intel SSD 520 series. put those together with my 12gigs of RAM and changing between pictures should be quick, as in 1 second quick. my pics are from a...

    using all your RAM?

finally got up a little RAM meter on my screen and i'm shocked to see that only between 2 - 4 gig of my TWELVE gigs is being used by LR. is there a way to increase this? what about getting more cores in on the LR party? how many cores can u use?

is 4.0 slow or is it just me?

was using LR 3.something and then switched to 4.0. things were a bit slow but i thought it might be my PC as things in general were getting bogged down (had not done reinstall in 2 years). so did a reinstall but this time on a SSD :) and thought, now its gonna blaze along... nope. LR4.0 is...

    website feedback?

if you want to 'rip into me' about my website, please do, i'll take it with a smile :) and yes, i do want to get my own domain, eventually, just trying to get a good cheap provider and of course, a catchy name. and one thing i do know is a bit of a pain on my site is the resolution required to...

what does everyone think of the TOPAZ plugins? and do the noise reduction plugins do a better job than the built in ones with LR 4?

    is it called blending?

i have taken a number of photos using a tripod. there is some action and i would like to see all the action in one single image. kinda like how you take a skiier (or whatever) doing a trick and u can see each frame taken (each with a different position of the skiier) in one photo. what is that...
