Hi Cletus,
The EOS Utility shouldn't have entered the workflow. I used the EOS Utility to add my name to the metadata when I originally bought the camera 5 years ago and didn't use it again until I was trying to figure out the reason I suddenly saw the "Photographer: Julie McLeod" in the...
Tim, Hal is correct. It is definitely not a LR issue but rather something to do with the Canon EOS Utility. I wish I could say why it happened in the first place but I'm content with the situation now. Thanks.
Hi Hal, I probably haven't explained myself very well. I already made the "Photographer:" go away by using the EOS Utility; the file I sent you already had that removed. The mystery that I think will have to go unsolved is how it got set that way without my intervention. Images uploaded before...
Hi Hal, I'm sure you're correct that it's coming from the camera. I've realized now that the Creator and Artist fields have always been filled out automatically with my first and last names but that fact didn't even register with me until those fields suddenly changed to include "Photographer:"...
Thanks, Cletus. Oddly, I don't think you can access the metadata setup in camera on my 5DmII but I eventually found my disk for the EOS utility and installed it on my secondary PC. I was able to solve part of the problem. Now, the "Photographer:" part of the metadata lines for Artist and...
Hi Rikk, I may have done that when I got the camera initially but that was several years ago. I'd like to double check that to be sure but the EOS Utility doesn't seem to be playing nicely with Mac El Capitan and I can't access the camera using it.
I've encountered a strange issue with metadata and though I doubt it's related to Lightroom, I do hope someone might have some insight for me. For years, I've used a metadata preset to add copyright information on import from the memory card. The preset only applies to the IPTC Copyright...
Hi Brian,
It's likely that you've not selected the correct path when assigning PSE10 as the additional external editor. You need to choose the .app file which is within the Support Files folder. The full path is: Applications/Adobe Photosop 10/Support Files/Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor.app.
Sdeleng -
It sounds to me that when you set up PSE as an additional external editor in LR Preferences, you directed LR to the wrong PSE file. You have to choose the .app file - Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor.app. On Mac OS X, the full path is:
Applications>Adobe Photoshop Elements...
Hi Victoria,
I notice that the Creative Layer blog post has been updated with prices for non-North American customers. Looks like it's £7.14 GBP:

I know if either of my high school kids were inclined towards photography, I'd be really excited to have this opportunity available to them. Bonne chance!
This is very interesting and it must be really exciting to be starting such an innovative program for the students. Which school board, if I might ask? I'm in Ottawa too. :)
Here is a screen grab of my external editor tab in LR Preferences with the existing editors visible. I've never encountered any problems adding more manually or through third party installer placement. As you can see, I have eighteen listed at this point.
To add additional editors...
I have the Nik Complete Collection, onOne Perfect Photo Suite, several versions of Photoshop Elements, and a couple other applications enabled as external editors in LR4. I don't seem to have hit any limit.
Azinor,
It does seem odd that the primary external editor isn't functioning properly but there is no harm in assigning PSE11 as one of your additional editors. Just make sure you direct it to the PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe. I'm not on a Windows machine at the moment but I think the path will...
You need to direct LR to the Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor.app. The correct path is: Applications>Adobe Photoshop Elements 11>Support Files>Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor.app. A common mistake is to direct it instead to Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and in that case PSE11 will open but the...
Elizabeth,
If you choose to, you should be able to send your images to PSE10 for additional editing regardless of whether your camera's raw files are supported by PSE10. When you opt to send an image to PSE via the 'Edit In' command, you'll actually be sending a tiff or psd version of the raw...
This forum is second to none. Each time I visit, I'm taken by the how graciously the experts here share their extensive knowledge. I don't know what Victoria is putting in the water here but it works! ;-)
Hi Sara, I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help there. I haven't actually got beyond the point of creating the calendars yet. I was only planning to print the yearly calendar (like the sample on the left in my previous post) so wouldn't need room for writing or have a need for binding. I...
Very glad to hear it. It took me a bit to figure out what was what in Ed's downloaded set too. But once you've got it, it should be pretty easy. Good luck!
You're welcome, Sara. First off, did you unzip the file that you downloaded from me? If so, you should have useable PSD files. Beyond that, I think the problem you are having is that you're trying to put the PSDs into the Print module. The PSDs are images rather than templates and they need...
I'm glad it seems to be sorted for you now.
If you're sending to PSE to perform actions, you may well need to send the images as 8-bit because many PSE functions are not available on 16-bit images. This includes anything which involves layers. As far as whether PSE actions are equivalent to...
Hi pipnat51. I tried this with a couple of the actions that came with PSE11, namely the Faded Ink with Vignette and the Instant Snapshot 240ppi. The actions' effects were reflected properly in the duplicate file (.tiff) in Lightroom 4 after saving out of PSE11. What actions are you giving you...
