The only photos that I have in Lightroom catalog are my RAW files (converted to DNG) that imported from my SD card. I do not catalog any others. Is it possible to move the RAW files on my computer to an external hard drive without disrupting the connection? If this is not possible, can you...
All fixed now. I had a friend with a Mac and Lightroom come over and help me re establish the catalog. Everything on the left pane had disappeared for some reason, so he had to put all the elements back in there, such as quick collection, previous import, etc. So I'm back to normal now...
This is how I got to where I am now. I clicked on the Lightroom tab (I have a Mac) on the upper left, and selected "Catalog settings". The window opened and I clicked on the "General" tab and then clicked on the "show" button. See print screen I've attached. The previous screen shot I sent...
These are new screen shots. When I import, I change the file name from (year) to (year new imports). Is this the catalog?
Also, I searched on my computer for .lrcat, above. I seem to have quite a few, but no dates from yesterday when I processed my RAW files.
Neither of those things worked. When I double clicked on the catalog file, it opened Lightroom, but it is still asking me if I want to import it. I went to file, open recent, and the catalog wasn't there.
I clicked on "something" and my whole catalog disappeared from Lightroom. I know where it is stored, went there and when I right clicked it opened Lightroom 5.6, but it asked if I wanted to import it. Is this the right thing to do?
I just migrated to a Mac. I haven't tried to plug my camera card in yet to transfer my raw photos to Lightroom, because from everything I've read, the Mac wants to put them in iPhoto (as the default). When I plug in my card reader, I want it to pull up Lightroom as the default. Can anyone...
When I said external hard drive, what I meant to say was I have the files backed up online with Carbonite. Is the process the same? I no longer have the old PC that I used with Lightroom. I migrated to Macbook Pro. But my catalog is backed up in Carbonite. I haven't downloaded my (jpg...
I've purchased a Macbook pro. I want to migrate my PC Lightroom catalog from an external hard drive to my present Lightroom on the Mac. I don't want to mess this up, so any info you can supply will be greatly appreciated.
I keep getting a pop-up that says there are updates to PS 2014, but when I click to dowload, I always get the message that download has failed. Please try again later. I've been trying to do this off and on for over two weeks. Any suggestions?
When I referred to "Import folder", I was referring to the folder I presently have on my internal hard drive that I import photos from my SD card into. That folder is called "New", and that folder actually is on my desktop. Under "New", there are sub folders named with the dates of the...
I probably wasn't making myself clear as I should have. The "top level" folder I was referring to was the "top level" of my Lightroom imports. I moved my Photoshop Elements Organizer (which has thousands of photos) to Lighroom, so the Lightroom import folder is just one of many. The Lightroom...
I just started reading this thread about moving folders to a different drive. One poster said the easiest way was to use "finder". I have a PC, not a Mac, so I'm not sure I have a "finder" option or possibly it has a different name.
Also, the folder I want to move is a Level 1 folder, or...
I haven't even opened the program, just unpacked it. I need to know from the experts here, what book is the best to learn Lightroom. Is Lightroom 2 a whole lot different from Lightroom 3.3? I found Lightroom for Dummies 2, but I am thinking the Dummies book for 3.3 isn't out yet. Would you...
