I have a laptop that has lightroom 6 on it and the laptop has stopped working because of a virus, I need to deactivate lightroom 6 on it in order to install it on my new laptop but I can't turn the old laptop on. Does anyone have an idea on how I can fix this, please let me know.

You don't have to deactivate. You license allows you to use Lightroom on two computers.

You can also contact Adobe and they will remove it from the active license list.

Actually, you can do this yourself from your own accounts page: Adobe ID

Also if you do nothing, as soon as you activate your license on a third device, Adobe will deactivate the other two instances which then allows you to reactivate one of the other two instances.

Cletus, does this work for both CC and Perpetual License versions?
I just did a v6.7 (Perpetual License) upgrade on my Macbook Air and it is telling me that I have used more than two installs!!

Can you post a screenshot of the exact message you are getting? When the CC/Perpetual licensing split was made, it was originally intended that attempting to activate a perpetual license on a third system would allow you to proceed, but only by automatically deactivating the other two (allowing the user to reactivate his/her choice of the second system). I've seen a couple of posts such as yours, so maybe the process has been changed. If I can see the exact message I'll be able to ping a contact at Adobe and hopefully get clarification.

Hi Jim, Thanks for the response.
Here are the two screens I get. (Step1 followed by Step2). I have masked the number but can email you the original screenshot if you PM me email address to use.

I will need to contact Adobe Support in UK as I need to use my Macbook Air when I am travelling next month.

Thanks for the screenshots. The serial number isn't needed, but can you PM me the Adobe ID that you use (not the password, just the ID)?
