Hello,

I have been using Adobe lightroom 3 on 2 computers for over a year now and never had any issues. It is still working fine on one of my Mac's but if I try to open a catalogue on the other Mac the welcome screen pops up every time and it will sometimes only open the default catalogue not the one I wanted to open. I tried to uninstall and reinstall it by dragging the lightroom application into the trash can then reinstalling with the disc again but this has not worked. I'm not sure if I did this process correctly because it did not ask for a serial number this time round ?

Can anybody help me ?

Hi guys, I’m new to this forum, but I hope you have some suggestions to help me out with my problem.

Lightroom is crashing when I’m exporting referenced files from my thunderbolt external drive to my desktop. The screen goes into black for 5 seconds, then I get a grey screen telling me in several languages that the computer needs to reboot due to “a problem”. By pressing any key, the computer restarts and I’m back in business. Even when only exporting like 20 files at a time, fail and collapse. This problem only appeared today, I have exported thousands of files since I got my mac in February and never experienced any issues at all until just now.

I have a brand new iMac 27” received in February with the newest updated OS, 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 and a 3TB fusion drive. 32 GB RAM. No other programs are open when this happens.

I have browsed through this forum and found people to have similar difficulties, but it seemed to be related to dust and fan problems. I have hard time believing that is my case. Could it be that my CPU is overheating?

I’ll be grateful for all kinds of feedback.

Cheers.

Hi All Looks like you guys have a great forum going here -this is my first post .... Forgive me if this was discussed but I couldn't locate anything specific, feeling my way around. Anyway I just upgraded from 4.3 to 4.4 and now a generic lightroom icon appears in autoplay. A while back during the upgrade from 3 to 4 I had two icons appearing and I found a fix by editing the handler registry buy can't remember exactly how or if it pertains to this too. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I realize it's not important but it bugs me :)

When I replaced my former Windows 7 desktop with a newer model recently I had no problem reloading LR 4 along with my other applications. Before the computer change I had on my desktop a shortcut to a possibly comprehensive set of lens corrections (up to that time) by Adobe and by individual developers. It seems to me that when I'd initially downloaded the lens correction chart, I'd also installed the .AIR program and the list was fairly comprehensive. It included all those corrections contained in my then current LR program plus some others for older lenses that I chose to add to LR.

Now i've reinstalled .AIR and attempted to again down the comprehensive list from the Adobe site. A seemingly very short list was downloaded and it seems to contain only a very few of the lens corrections that were installed in the past.

I'd like to get back my previously installed lens corrections and one for a lens I've just acquired. I'm running LR 4.3 but have so far not decided to upgrade to 4.4 which does not appear to offer any improvements--for me--over 4.3. I'll certainly look closely at LR 5's official release version upon its availability. What am I missing here outside of most of my former lens corrections?

I thought I posted this before but it did not indicate that it actually posted. Using Aperture today and am strongly considering migrating to LR4. I can get the LR4 trial but when it ends and I buy will Adobe give me any $$ toward LR5 since it is so close. Or, should I wait? I am new today to the forum. I am an Aperture user that is strongly considering migrating to LR. I know that I can get the LR4 trial to begin the migration. If I like it I can purchase it before the trial ends so my conversion work is not lost.

This post 's purpose is to avoid a possible disaster. Currently I'm on a PC with two external 2TB drives that hold my images and the catalog plus backups. They are formatted NTFS, which I understand Mac's can read but not write. I have a new Mac Mini and I have two Mac formatted 2 TB empty external drives. I want to connect the NTFS PC drives to the Mac and copy over the files to the Mac formatted drives (one at a time). Will this transfer work without corrupting the image or catalog files? After I make the transfer I theoretically should be able to start up LR normally and without a disaster on the Mac I hope.
Thanks
